چکیده

We discuss our preliminary experiences with several parallel two level additive Schwarz type domain decomposition methods for the simulation of three dimensional transonic compressible ows The focus is on the implementation of the parallel coarse mesh solver which is used to reduce the computational cost and speed up the convergence of the linear algebraic solvers Results of a local two level and a global two level algorithm on a multiprocessor computer will be presented for computing steady ows around a NACA airfoil using the Euler equations discretized on unstructured meshes

An Explicit Multi-Model Compressible Flow Formulation Based on the Full Potential Equation and the Euler Equations on 3D Unstructured Meshes

The development of a multi-model formulation to simulate three dimensional compressible flows on parallel computers is presented. The goal is to reduce the overall time and memory required to simulate the flow by using locally selected cheaper and more computational efficient physical models without sacrificing the global fidelity of the simulation. Our approach involves splitting the computati...

A Minimum Overlap Restricted Additive Schwarz Preconditioner and Applications in 3D Flow Simulations

Numerical simulations of unsteady three-dimensional compressible flow problems require the solution of large, sparse, nonlinear systems of equations arising from the discretization of Euler or Navier-Stokes equations on unstructured, possibly dynamic, meshes. In this paper we study a highly parallel, scalable, and robust nonlinear iterative method based on the Defect Correction method (DeC), th...

High-reynolds Number Viscous Flow Computations Using an Unstructured-grid Method

An unstructured grid method is presented to compute three-dimensional compressible turbulent flows for complex geometries. The Navier-Stokes equations along with the one equation turbulence model of Spalart-Allmaras are solved using a parallel, matrix-free implicit method on unstructured tetrahedral grids. The developed method has been used to predict drags in the transonic regime for both DLRF...

High Order Resolution and Parallel Implementation on Unstructured Grids a Thesis Doctor of Philosophy

High Order Resolution and Parallel Implementation on Unstructured Grids. (December 1996) Yufeng Yao, University of Glasgow Supervisor: Professor B. E. Richards In this thesis the numerical solution of the two-dimensional compressible NavierStokes equations for the application on aerodynamic problems is tackled. The motivation is to develop a cell-centred upwind finite volume scheme with high or...

Analysis and shape optimization in incompressible flows with unstructured grids

The aim of this study is to develop and validate numerical methods that perform shape optimization in incompressible flows using unstructured meshes. The three-dimensional Euler equations for compressible flow are modified using the idea of artificial compressibility and discretized on unstructured tetrahedral grids to provide estimates of pressure distributions for aerodynamic configurations. ...
